PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has spoken out on the matter regarding Cody Gakpo‘s future in light of Manchester United’s interest.
This summer, there has been a lot of talk about Gakpo leaving PSV. Although the Dutch forward has had a successful few years at the Dutch club, a step-up may be in the cards given Manchester United’s keen interest.
Manchester United and Gakpo have previously agreed on personal terms, but no agreement has been reached between the two clubs. The young winger’s future has now been addressed by PSV manager and former Manchester United striker Van Nistelrooy.
As reported by The Metro, he said:
“I think I am very relaxed about the situation. There have been rumours about him since the beginning of the season almost eight weeks ago. And we have not seen Cody changing his behaviour up to now. There were rumours over the whole period, and I admire that a lot in him. He is working on his development on a daily basis, playing in games and reaching his level.”
For Van Nistelrooy, it’s crucial that Gakpo conduct himself professionally throughout the entire transfer window. The Dutch manager will have a problem if he refuses to play or practise, but the 23-year-old currently seems to be playing football in the best possible way.
Erik ten Hag still has to make more signings if he wants his team to perform at the top level. The board will have to spend a lot of money to try and push us back into the top four of the Premier League.
Currently, Ten Hag has spent a lot of time looking for Antony, but so far his efforts have been fruitless. The window is quickly coming to a close, so we need to consider our options.
Gakpo played 47 times for the Eredivisie side, contributing 15 assists and 21 goals. He has also had a strong start to the year for Rudd van Nistelrooy’s team.
