Manchester United are in need of a top quality central defender and will be hoping to lure a few of them in during the summer transfer window. The Red Devils are now looking to line up a move for West Ham United star Issa Diop but the Londoners are looking for Anthony Marital as well in the deal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has begun his rebuilding process with Manchester United already after the signature of Daniel James from Swansea City last week. However, one area that the Norwegian needs to improve on is the defense as United have shown vulnerability at the back all season long.
United have shortlisted a few top defenders in Europe and are linked with signing Leicester City’s Harry Maguire as well as Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly but have been frustrated with their hefty price tags. Therefore the red half of Manchester is eyeing a swoop for West Ham United defender Issa Diop who has had a stunning debut season with Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
The Hammers acquired the French center back from Ligue 1 side Toulouse last summer in a £22 million deal but his market value has nearly tripled following a great season with West Ham United. Manchester United have seen their initial bid of £40 million for Diop rejected even though the 22-year-old is keen on moving to Old Trafford.
However, West Ham is willing to listen to offers if a deal for Anthony Martial is included as well in exchange. But United also aren’t allowing their star winger to leave the club and may have to pay around up to £60 million for Diop unless they strike a better deal with West Ham.
