Former Netherlands star Wesley Sneijder believes that Tyrell Malacia has the quality to start for the Dutch team in the upcoming World Cup.
The United left-back has been in impressive form under Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils were always vulnerable in that particular defensive spot and they needed a top-class player to break the curse.
The former Feyenoord defender was close to joining Marseille but the deal was hijacked at the last moment. The manager would be happy that he didn’t miss out on the 23-year-old and he has even kept Luke Shaw out of the starting XI in recent games.
Ten Hag has finally found his best defensive players and it is expected that Malacia will be starting the majority of games for United. World Cup 2010 hero Sneijder believes that the Dutch star should be awarded for his fine form by handing him a spot in the upcoming World Cup campaign.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, he said:
“I choose Malacia in my team because he comes up high and is much higher. Then you get more into a 3-5-2 and I like that.”
United have been unbeaten in their last four league games and is expected to put on a strong performance against Manchester City in their next derby match.
Malacia is expected to start along with former United target Jurrien Timber who has been warned by Van Gaal that he needs to play regularly to keep his spot in the national side.
The 23-year-old will attract more plaudits and could be a very crucial player for the Reds if he continues to dominate the left-back spot.
