Manchester United interested in signing Monaco right-back Vanderson

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United is negotiating a January move for Monaco right-back Vanderson.

Given that Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been judged surplus to requirements by new head coach Erik ten Hag, it is widely assumed that the Red Devils are committed to bringing a new right-back to Old Trafford.

The club’s first-choice right-back is Diogo Dalot, a Portugal international who has had a productive start to the season with two assists in eight games across all competitions.

However, United wants to expand its alternatives in that part of the pitch, and Vanderson has reportedly been designated as the club’s top target. According to the source, the defender’s representatives have already met with John Murtough about a transfer to Old Trafford.

Anderson is rumoured to be open to moving to the Red Devils from Monaco in the upcoming season, but it’s uncertain whether the Ligue 1 club would be willing to sell him in January. The French club want €60 million for the Brazilian as the player has five years remaining on his deal.

Vanderson moved from Gremio to Monaco in January and has since made 33 appearances scoring two goals and dishing out three assists.

Ten Hag had also suggested that his team would be busy in January, with discussions for signings scheduled for the time between international breaks.
