Sparta Prague manager Brian Priske has praised Manchester United starlet Matej Kovar for his early impact on the squad.
The boss has called him as the ‘future of Czech football’ as the youngster continues to show promising progress.
The Czech goalkeeper has joined Sparta on a season long deal and he played a crucial role in the club’s 2-1 win against Hradec Kralove. The 22-year-old has already started three games for the club and it seems that this season he could grab enough first team experience.
Brian Priske was impressed by the keeper’s progress and he has high hopes for the youngster. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, he said:
“I was glad when the opportunity arose to get [Kovar]. We have also created new competition among our goalkeepers. He shows exactly what we expected from him. He is a tall young goalkeeper and his performance today was very good.”
“Although he behaved differently than usual in several situations in the first half, he is the future of Czech football.”
Kovar had earlier sent on loan to Swindon Town and Burton Albion and last season, he was again sent on loan to Brewers for the second-half of the season.
However, the United star featured in only six games for the club before returning back to Old Trafford to train under Erik ten Hag. The manager decided to let him leave for Sparta Prague since the Czech club wanted to sign the player.
He signed a new deal until 2025 before leaving the club on loan. The 22-year-old has the potential to be a regular player for his club and country in future and earning some vital experience could play a big role in his career.
