Frank Lampard hails Manchester United’s attacking skill-set

Everton manager Frank Lampard has hailed Manchester United’s counter-attacking moves and also admitted that his team would be ready to face the best version of United.

United were humbled by a largely impressive Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City by a 6-3 scoreline.

The defeat ended their four match unbeaten run, but United did return back to winning ways by defeating Europa League opponents Omonia Nicosia on Thursday.

The Toffees however had a dismal start to the season under Frank Lampard. They have been unable to score goals but were still able to get themselves back on winning terms by defeating West Ham and Southampton in their last two league matches.

The Everton manager has admitted that the Red Devil’s counter-attacking moves are a big threat to his teams defense. Lampard believes that United will be high in spirits before heading into the contest but his side will still try to find their weak spots.

The Manchester Evening News covered his words, as the manager said:

“I think you have to expect the best version of the team to come and then also try and find weaknesses if you can. I think it’s important that we focus on ourselves and keep doing the things that we do.”

“The first feeling with Manchester United is always that there is a big threat on the counter attack, I think they’ve had that for many years, and the individuals at the attacking end of the pitch. We’re well aware of that but we’re confident in what we can do first.”

The last time United faced Everton, they were unable to break a resilient defense set by Lampard. This time, the Toffees will be without defenders Terry Mina and Mason Holgate, but have key players James Tarkowski and Conor Coady to command their back-line.

These two centre-backs have been playing remarkably well for their new club and the United attackers would need to be sharp with their moves and play their best attacking football to break the flawless Everton defense.
