Leeds United have agreed personal terms with United target Cody Gakpo

Despite strong interest from Manchester United, Leeds United has reportedly agreed on personal terms with PSV Eindhoven attacker Cody Gakpo.

The 23-year-old’s move to Old Trafford was heavily rumoured to happen throughout the summer, and Arsenal is also thought to have looked into the prospect of bringing the Netherlands international to the Premier League.

According to a recent report, PSV may have to sell Gakpo next year due to their financial difficulties and the forward could leave in January or at the end of the 2022–23 season.

The Sun claims that Leeds United and the attacker have already agreed on personal terms and that they are currently negotiating a £30 million agreement with the Dutch club.

Gakpo is desperate to move to England, but a move to Manchester United is now doubtful since the Red Devils are reportedly gearing up for a quiet winter transfer market.

During the 2022–23 season, Gakpo has displayed excellent form at the club level, scoring 12 goals and contributing 10 assists in 15 appearances across all competitions.

In eight league games, the in-form attacker has scored eight goals and registered six assists. In two Europa League group-stage games, he has scored three goals and contributed one assist.

Despite only signing an extension in January, the attacker’s original deal with PSV still has four years to remain. The Dutch powerhouses, though, are reportedly hoping to make a profit on the attacker after failing to advance past the group round of the Champions League this season.

Despite still having Gakpo on his transfer wish list, United boss Erik Ten Hag is clear with the fact that he won’t be signing the 23-year-old this January for an astronomical price.
