Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof has praised summer signing, Lisandro Martinez for his energetic impact on the squad.
The Swedish star has called the former Ajax player a ‘warrior’ for his strong character since joining the club. Ten Hag had made the decision to reunite with his former player and the United board agreed to pay £56.4 million to sign Martinez.
The Argentine star has had a huge impact since he took his first step at Old Trafford. Ten Hag has preferred to play Martinez along with Raphael Varane and both the centre-back had a strong run of games together.
United won four games in succession before suffering defeat at the hands of Manchester City. But those four wins wouldn’t have been possible without the help of these two defenders.
Martinez again played a crucial role against Everton as he made crucial blocks at the end and was seen hugging his teammates at the final whistle as they sealed a huge win.
Lindelof who had paired for the second time with the Argentine star put up a great showing even after the club went 1-0 in the opening five minutes.
The Swedish defender praised Martinez for his character and impact since joining United. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, he said:
“He’s a character and a warrior out there on the pitch. He’s been performing great and it’s very important to have players like that in the squad. He’s been performing great and he did another great game today.”
The 5ft 9in centre-back has proved a lot of pundits wrong when it comes to playing against tall strikers. Martinez has successfully won the majority of his aerial duels and has been sharp with his passing skills.
Although Varane has been injured and will be out for a few games, the 23-year-old will be comfortable while pairing with Lindelof. The fans would be pleased with the fact that Martinez has been able to push out-of-favor defenders to the bench at United.
