As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Cristiano Ronaldo is set to offer his defence on the ongoing charge issued by the FA amid fear that he will miss crucial games.
Manchester United doesn’t have an idea when the Football Association will reveal to the public their decision on the matter.
Following an altercation after United’s 1-0 loss to Everton on April 9, the FA declared on September 23 that Ronaldo had been charged with improper and/or violent behaviour. As he left the field at Goodison Park, Ronaldo broke a young Everton fan’s phone and later issued an apology via social media.
If the 37-year-old is given a multiple-match suspension, Ronaldo and United are ready to mount a defence. The player had until Monday to respond to the accusation, but he chose not to. At his news conference on Wednesday, Ten Hag was asked about Ronaldo’s response to the accusation and the manager responded by saying:
“We talked about that, he will not accept it.”
In their upcoming three Premier League games, United will play Newcastle, Tottenham, and Chelsea. It is unknown if Ronaldo will be suspended by the FA during that time. However, if that happens it will be a huge blow to the Red Devils since they are already handling Martial’s injury issues.
Meanwhile, against Newcastle, United are expected to use the same aggressive lineup that was used in the tight victory over Omonia Nicosia, with Ronaldo at the helm and Antony attempting to score in his fourth straight Premier League game.
Manchester United will stand behind Cristiano Ronaldo as they fight to prevent a multi-game suspension at this period of time.
