Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen believes that his team is on the “right path” after drawing against Chelsea last week.
The Old Trafford side struggled to generate a lot of opportunities against Graham Potter’s side. The blues were also disappointing with their level of performance.
However, a Jorginho penalty in the 87th minute gave Chelsea an unexpected lead. The United fans had to bite their nails until Casemiro’s equaliser in the 94th minute.
Eriksen expressed his dissatisfaction with the result in a post-game interview with the Mirror. The 30-year-old was expecting United would continue its winning streak after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0. He does, however, believe that the club is still moving forward in the right direction. The Danish midfielder said:
“Wednesday was a big performance and to top it up today would have been perfect, but we are on the right path to something that’s going to be a lot more fun than where we are. We always aim to be better than what we have, but overall it’s been a good week and we can be proud of what we achieved.”
The best performance by United this season, in the eyes of the supporters, came against Tottenham. The Chelsea game, though, lacked the final product by the attackers.
However, since the beginning of the season, United has advanced significantly under Erik ten Hag. The club suffered miserable defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford in the opening two Premier League games, finishing last in the standings. For Ten Hag, this was a dismal introduction to life in England. But now, they are sixth in the league standings, six points behind rivals Manchester City.
Fans will be hoping that this team keeps on improving as we move towards the most hectic time of the league.
