As reported by the club’s official website, Marcus Rashford hit yet another remarkable milestone as his thunderous header against West Ham gave him his 100th goal for Manchester United.
The 24-year-old headed home through a magnificent Christian Eriksen cross, to give United the lead in the 38th minute. After hitting a crucial milestone for his boyhood team, he celebrated wildly and gave a passionate knee-slide in front of the fans.
Anthony Martial’s injury has given them more chances for Rashford to show off his worth to the manager. Even if he hasn’t been the most consistent player on the pitch, he has delivered goals when needed.
His goal against Arsenal was his first of the season and he has never looked back since then. Rashford scored his 100th goal at Old Trafford just a few days after scoring his 99th, a header against Sheriff Tiraspol as a substitute on Thursday in the Europa League. Rashford became the 22nd player and the last since Wayne Rooney in August 2022 to score 100 goals as a United player. At the age of 18, Rashford scored his first goal for the Red Devils against FC Midtjylland in 2016.
The United academy graduate’s highest goal-scoring season was in 2019–20 when he scored 22 goals across all competitions.
Last season, Rashford had a terrible record in which he scored just five goals in 32 games, but Erik ten Hag has immediately restored him to form. With his header against West Ham, Rashford scored seven goals this year.
His form is peaking at the ideal time as he would be aiming for a recall to the England national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar next month.
