Cristiano Ronaldo has left Manchester United by mutual consent as the club decided to tear up his contract after the striker’s recent interview.
The striker has decided to leave Old Trafford with immediate effect and will not be returning to the club after the World Cup.
The news came as a shock for the fans who will not be able to watch the striker play for their club again. The legendary striker has scored more than a century of goals for the Red Devils and it will be a sad end to his famous career in the Red shirt.
The Portuguese had joined the club just 18 months back but will be looking forward to joining a new club in January. The club has released a statement mentioning the striker’s departure from the club. As reported by United’s official website, the statement read:
“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.”
“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.
“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”
