OSC Lille striker Jonathan David may depart the club in January, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg. Manchester United is still interested in signing him as he can be signed for a mediocre fee.
The 22-year-old is currently competing for Canada in the 2022 World Cup in an effort to establish himself on the biggest platform in all of football.
David will be looking to stamp his name on the national side when his team plays Croatia on Sunday. His team lost 1-0 to Belgium on Wednesday night, but he might have scored if he had converted the penalty that Alphonso Davies missed.
Outside of the World Cup, David’s future with Lille is still a topic of discussion, and a transfer to United doesn’t appear out of the question.
According to Sky Sports journalist Plettenberg, the Red Devils have conducted extensive scouting of the young player and he could be available in January. Given his age and amazing finishing ability, David is just the attacking player United needs in the January transfer window.
The Canadian, who has already scored 41 goals in 111 games for Lille and 22 goals in his 36 international appearances, would probably be a regular starter if he signs for United.
David would be an important piece of the jigsaw if he could be acquired by Erik ten Hag, who needs to be assembling an exciting young team that can develop into a genuine force, much like Arsenal this season, who are top of the Premier League.
