Manchester United great Paul Ince has verbally blasted four Red Devils’ attackers Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial ahead of the new season.
There is no denying that Manchester United had a nightmare campaign last season as they finished in sixth place in the Premier League table and without any real chance of attaining silverware. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been advised by many pundits and fans to make defensive signings to bolster his backline but former Manchester United forward Paul Ince believes that the players in the attacking third are to be blamed as well.
While conversing with BBC Radio 1 the 51-year-old Ince tore into four of the United attackers and with scathing remarks. Those that came under the gun were English duo of Rashford and Lingard along with Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial.
Paul Pogba was the top scorer for United last season as the midfield ace netted 13 times in the Premier League and Ince began his rant by saying, “You’ve got Marcus Rashford who scored 11 goals last year and gets a new contract… Jesse Lingard was diabolical last year, he really, really was. Then there’s Alexis Sanchez. They got nothing out of Sanchez whatsoever. So as much as we’re talking about the defense and Chris Smalling and Harry Maguire, surely we’ve got to be looking at who’s going to be playing up top. We need to be looking at that because attacking-wise they’re not great. Martial? He’s a fizzy drink. He pops now and then. One moment he’s great, one moment he’s not.”
Ince is clearly unhappy with the underperforming and inconsistent forwards at Manchester United and maybe Solskjaer could use this as a hint to actually consider making a few changes in his attacking outlet
