Paris Saint-Germain are said to be eyeing a shock move for Manchester United midfielder Fred despite the club triggering a 12-month extension on his contract.
The Brazil international was in line to be out of contract next summer before the Old Trafford camp triggered the extension earlier this week to avoid losing his services for free at the end of the season.
According to a report from The Sun, the French top flight champions PSG are keen on Fred and the midfielder’s long-term admirers are looking to make a move for him soon in order to bolster their engine room options midway through the campaign.
Fred has struggled to cement a regular slot at Old Trafford under the new manager Eric ten Hag and rumours suggest that the idea of joining his Brazil teammates Neymar and Marquinhos at PSG could appeal to the player.
The 29-year-old, who signed for United in 2018 from Shakhtar Donetsk, has made just four league starts this season and PSG’s interest in his signature would be of concern to Ten Hag and United as they plan to resume their domestic campaign on the high.
