Qatar fund group looking to invest in Manchester United, Liverpool or Spurs

According to Bloomberg, Qatar is considering a full takeover of Manchester United as part of its investment plan in the Premier League.

As a result of hosting the 2022 World Cup this winter, Qatar Sports Investments is considering investments in three English giants, including United.

The Glazer family has decided to sell the club, and they have hired the Raine Group to assist them in doing so in the first quarter of 2023.

To take over from the Glazers, several front-runners are expected to emerge as early candidates by the end of January, despite the fact that the process is taking place secretly behind closed doors.

Furthermore, with a Middle Eastern consortium expected to be in the competition, Qatar might be seriously considering making United its next football project. Qatar will target additional Premier League teams in 2023, including United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Qatar Sports Investments had earlier explored options to buy a stake in other clubs. But they are now thinking about a full acquisition of United and Liverpool after knowing about their owner’s intention to sell the club.

The Glazers are looking to leave Old Trafford, while Fenway Sports Group is prepared to leave Anfield. However, Tottenham are also very much in the mix, and club president Daniel Levy is said to have already had discussions about a prospective investment from Qatar.

According to the report, QSI chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi met Levy in London earlier this week. However, it’s not clear if he has since spoken with another Premier League club. However, Tottenham has since refuted the allegations.

Any investment by Qatar in the English Premier League would promote its plan to use sports to raise its reputation after the World Cup. They also own a share in the Portuguese team SC Braga, but they now want to establish themselves in England, where there are several alluring chances.

They may possibly prioritise investing in South America, but for the time being, they are thought to be concentrating on the Premier League, which is regarded as the biggest domestic league in the world.

In the coming weeks, more updates could reach the fans as United’s sale draws nearer and Liverpool keeps looking for investment opportunities.
