The latest reports claim that Premier League giants Manchester United are keen on signing Juventus forward Douglas Costa in a swap deal for Belgian attacker Romelu Lukaku this summer transfer window.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season and a fair distance away from the two title rivals at the top of the tree. United manager Ole Gunnar Solakjaer has his work cut out ahead of him and the Norwegian has wasted no time in swooping up deals for Daniel James and Aaron Wan Bissaka this summer transfer window.
However, if United are to get back to the summit of English football, they need a few more reinforcements and Solskjaer is targeting a few top class attacking players in the transfer window to bolster his front line. There were reports that circled around the European continent claiming that Juventus star Paulo Dybala could be the one player that Manchester United looks to snap up this summer as the Argentine is not able to attain regular football at Turin.
But it seems that United are not interested in signing Dybala anymore and have turned their focus towards signing another South American starlet from Juventus in the form of Brazilian Douglas Costa. The 28-year-old winger has been in and out of the first team for the Italian champions and managed only one goal across all competitions last season as he looks destined from an exit at the Old Lady.
The former Bayern Munich star is excellent with the ball at his feet and always a threat in attack, Costa’s pace and ability to get past players will be a great outlet for Manchester United as well. And the 20-time Premier League champions are not keen on offloading Lukaku in order to poach Costa to the Theatre Of Dreams
The 26-year-old Belgian striker has not managed to establish himself as one of the favorites among the Old Trafford faithful and looks set for an exit from the club. Manchester United is looking to use Costa as an exchange deal with Lukaku heading to Turin instead of a cash deal.
