As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Cardiff striker Gabriele Biancheri. The 16-year-old is ready to join the club as a scholar after finishing a medical over the weekend.
Despite the fact that Biancheri has drawn a lot of interest from other elite teams and was reportedly on Chelsea’s radar last summer, United have won the race to sign him. This season, the teenager earned his FA Youth Cup debut for Cardiff’s U18 team, and he has also trained with the Welsh club’s U21 team.
Building on a remarkable season in which he scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists for the U16s, Biancheri has seven goals in 12 games for his academy team this year. Biancheri has already agreed to the deal’s personal terms, and the two clubs have already accepted it.
It is expected that he will first sign on the dotted line to join Old Trafford as a scholar when he turns 17 in September before committing to a lengthy professional contract.
The former director of Cardiff’s academy, David Hughes, who joined United as a coach for the Professional Development Phase this season, would have been in a position to provide details about the young player.
Biancheri played youth football for Wales and is qualified to play for Italy and England internationally.
