United starlet Hannibal Mejbri scores his first senior goal for Birmingham City

As reported by Sky Sports, Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has been making a significant impact at loan club Birmingham City and has now added more value to his name by scoring his first goal at the senior level.

After appearing in three Premier League games for his parent club in each of the previous two seasons, the Tunisian international signed a season-long loan agreement with the Championship team over the summer and will finish the campaign at St Andrew’s.

He has played in every game for John Eustace’s team and has contributed a lot of assists, although he has yet to score a goal.

But on Friday, he finally broke the deadlock when the Blues played West Bromwich Albion in a West Midlands derby. The goal was also the result of some improvisation, which may have impressed United manager Erik ten Hag.

Hannibal was prepared to take a free kick from the right, and in fact, it seemed that he was planning to put the ball into the box as he raised a hand to his teammates.

Instead, he chose to shoot after spotting a gap at the near post. David Button, the goalkeeper, sprinted across but was unable to save the spectacular shot. Mejbri’s goal was vital as Birmingham defeated WBA by a 3-2 scoreline.

The Red Devils will be keeping a close eye on his development at the Championship club, and Ten Hag would surely be happy to see him perform so well.

United starlet Hannibal played his first Premier League match against Wolves on the final day of the 2021–22 season. Last season, he made additional appearances against Liverpool and Crystal Palace, starting against the Eagles, and he sat on the bench for United’s Champions League away game against Atletico Madrid.
