Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on United star Dean Henderson

According to the Manchester Evening News, Tottenham Hotspur has earmarked Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson as a possible replacement for Hugo Lloris.

The English goalkeeper is now out on loan for the entire season at Nottingham Forest. The 25-year-old enjoyed a strong first half of the season, but a muscular injury has forced him to miss crucial game time.

It is expected that he will return to Old Trafford, but following his explosive interview from last summer, United may decide to sell him. However, Spurs may become candidates to sign Henderson as they search for Lloris’ replacement. They are willing to go after a goalkeeper who is “homegrown.”

Henderson was a regular starter for United towards the latter end of the 2020–21 campaign, but David de Gea kept his starting position for the following season. Henderson only made three appearances last season due to De Gea’s outstanding performances. It was expected that he would try for a loan exit.

The United academy graduate spoke badly about his previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shortly after joining Forest, claiming that he was treated like a “caged animal” and that it was “criminal” to leave him on the bench.

It seems improbable that he will be added back to the first-team plans after making such remarks. Henderson might also reject the opportunity to support De Gea once more.

So, the English star may decide to leave the club and United will be ready to sell him for £40 million. In the upcoming weeks, De Gea is most likely to sign a new long-term contract.

New England Revolution’s Djordje Petrovic is being closely monitored by United as they want to sign a backup for their current No.1 keeper.
