As reported by ESPN, Alejandro Garnacho helped a sloppy Manchester United defeat West Ham United and advance to the FA Cup quarterfinals with a superb late strike.
The Red Devils overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Hammers by a 3-1 scoreline, while Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton suffered shocking losses.
United managed to prevail on a tough day. They regularly do. They were 23 minutes down and on the verge of losing their chance to win the cup treble, possibly worn out by their efforts against Barcelona at Wembley, but they managed to pull off a victory.
Although Ten Hag does not have the same atmosphere as Sir Alex Ferguson, this season the club has managed to score late goals and show fighting spirit.
Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes lifted the Carabao Cup on the Old Trafford field prior to kickoff, but that may not be the last trophy they have to display. It is clearly evident that Ten Hag is currently reviving a sleeping giant.

Yet there was more pain at Old Trafford for David Moyes, who in his tragic tenure as United manager never won a trophy. Said Benrahma’s opening goal appeared to have given West Ham hope of breaking a 43-year wait to win the FA Cup, despite the fact that Moyes had infamously never won a Premier league game here as a visiting manager at Old Trafford.
It was evident that West Ham had a stronger first half than United, despite the home team’s promising start. After a lacklustre first half, Ten Hag substituted Casemiro for the booked Scott McTominay.
Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez received their instructions immediately after Benrahma scored. Fred entered the game with a few minutes remaining and the scores tied.
It was then only going one way. Casemiro added motivation, and United played with increased intensity. They got back into the game thanks to set pieces. Casemiro, United’s new big boy in the box, briefly gave the impression that he had produced an action replay from Wembley.
United fans thought that their club had equalised via Casemiro, but the Brazilian’s header was disallowed for offside after a VAR review.
Nonetheless, the home team did manage to score the equaliser in the 77th minute when Nayef Aguerd headed into his own net while being pressed by Wout Weghorst.
However, Garnacho was the hero of the night as he scored the game-winning goal in the 90th minute. Fred added the third goal in the dying seconds of the extra time.
