Bruno Fernandes has received high praise from Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag due to his stellar recent run of play.
Fernandes struggled early on with the club but has gained momentum as the season has gone on.
Marcus Rashford was recently edged out by Fernandes for the club’s Player of the Month honour for March. And now, Ten Hag has talked about his “great improvement” this season.
While speaking to the club’s official website, the gaffer said:
“He is fantastic. He has had a fantastic season so far and firstly he is an example. He gives so much energy to the team, but he is taking so much responsibility and pushing the team but often by example.”
“Not only by coaching by example, but he is also so good in transitional moments. Of course in the final third, he is continually a threat. In possession, he is always available to receive the ball.”
“He is always an option and almost every time he has the right solution. I am so happy with Bruno in my team and I think he’s made a massive improvement during the season and I hope he can continue this.”
Before the World Cup, Fernandes had trouble maintaining his form and consistency. For the Red Devils throughout all competitions, he had just three goals and three assists.
Yet, after the competition, he has significantly improved. The Portuguese midfielder scored seven goals and provided nine assists before the World Cup break.
He has been doing a lot of things correctly over the past several months, so United needs him to keep up the good work over the remainder of the season. While there is still work to be done to finish in the top four of the Premier League, the team has the opportunity to win additional trophies through the FA Cup and Europa League.
The Red Devils’ match today at St. James’ Park is very important. They would be in a good position to secure the third spot in the league standings this season if they were to win.
