According to the Mirror, Manchester United is one of the teams interested in signing midfielder Maurits Kjaergaard from Red Bull Salzburg this summer.
In the upcoming transfer window, the Red Devils are likely to improve their midfield options, and they may want to add another inventive player to the mix for the number eight position.
Alexis Mac Allister and other well-known players have been linked with the club, but it is now being said that the Red Devils are in the running to sign Kjaergaard from Salzburg.
The Dane is valued at €15 million. But, he has not yet made a senior international debut. Christian Eriksen has been a revelation since joining the Red Devils on a free transfer in the summer.
Up until January, the Dane managed 11 goals for United before suffering a serious ankle injury. He is anticipated to come back this month and could play a significant part in the remaining games of the season.
In our opinion, manager Erik ten Hag might be happy to keep Eriksen in the number eight position for the upcoming season and he might prefer a young midfielder who can be rotated in.
Kjaergaard might be an interesting signing given Salzburg’s reputation for developing young talent. The 19-year-old has been brilliant for the Austrian team this season with two goals and nine assists.
In addition to his involvement in goals, the youngster has drawn attention for his tackling, dribbling, and ability to make crucial passes. He might be viewed as Eriksen’s long-term replacement.
If United wants to recruit Kjaergaard this summer, they may have to act swiftly after losing out to RB Leipzig on one of Salzburg’s top prospects, Benjamin Sesko.
