United taking steps to secure the signing of Croatian star Dominik Livakovic

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are ready to pay the release clause in order to sign Dinamo Zagreb shot-stopper Dominik Livakovic this summer.

The 28-year-old was outstanding for Croatia and he contributed the most in their incredible run to the World Cup semifinals. According to recent reports, United is eager to sign him and is prepared to exercise the €10 million buy-out clause in his contract.

Villarreal, Galatasaray, and Real Sociedad are also interested in signing the goalkeeper this summer. Although David de Gea is close to agreeing to a new long-term contract, manager Erik ten Hag might sign another young keeper this summer.

The Red Devils would make a wise choice by signing Livakovic. He would be a cost-effective signing and has the qualities to compete with De Gea for the top spot.

The Croatian’s reflexes are exceptional, much like De Gea’s. In the World Cup quarterfinal match against Brazil, he produced an incredible seven saves to help his nation triumph against all odds.

Along with his shot-blocking abilities, Livakovic’s distribution has drawn attention. He has completed 77% of his passes compared to De Gea’s 70% completion rate this term.

We believe that Livakovic might be signed as De Gea’s backup option. If the Spaniard continues to show his weaknesses with his distribution in the upcoming season, Livakovic might earn the chance to show his qualities at Old Trafford.
