Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag issued a new injury update on Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho ahead of their league clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils are currently unbeaten in their last three Premier League games, and they will be looking to continue the streak when they take on the Spurs tomorrow.
Fernandes suffered a knock to his right ankle during the FA Cup semifinal victory against Brighton & Hove Albion and Ten Hag has said that the club would have a look at the midfielder’s status before the match.
Moreover, the Dutch manager also revealed that Garnacho will not be fit for the game tomorrow, adding that the Argentine had just returned to the training ground after missing six weeks due to an ankle injury.
As reported by the club’s official website, the gaffer said:
“Bruno, we have to wait. He is obviously a question mark. He had a big kick in the first half but he played the game, over 90 minutes, and even in extra-time.”
“But then he went off. We’ve all seen it. He’s not excluded for tomorrow but he is a question mark. Garnacho is back on the pitch but he’s not ready for the game tomorrow.”
On Monday, Fernandes was seen sporting a protective boot, but Ten Hag insisted that it was simply for safety and that the midfielder will be examined before Thursday’s match.
The Portuguese player will probably go through a late fitness test, so we won’t be surprised if he is named to the matchday squad to face Tottenham.
The 28-year-old has a stellar fitness record throughout his career and has never missed a game due to injury, which is an incredible feat.
For United, having Fernandes available against Spurs would be a major asset. The Portuguese star has performed very well against Spurs with three goals and one assist in five games against them.
