Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag stated that Alejandro Garnacho might be available for the Premier League game against West Ham United on Sunday.
Yesterday, the Red Devils lost 1-0 against Brighton & Hove Albion after giving up a last-minute penalty. The Seagulls’ midfielder Alexis Mac Allister scored the winning goal.
After the loss, Ten Hag revealed that Garnacho would be ready for selection once more in order to get a good response against the Hammers.
The Argentine hasn’t participated in a competitive match since suffering an injury against Southampton in early March, but if fit enough, he might be named to the matchday squad on Sunday.
While speaking to the club’s official website, the gaffer said:
“I think it will be the same squad, maybe one player, Garnacho, I have to see, maybe he can be involved but we have to see how the progress will go.”
The Argentine has had an outstanding debut season, scoring four goals and dishing out five assists in little over 1,000 minutes of first-team action.
His involvement in goals has occurred in favourable circumstances. Probably his two best performances were his last-second goal against Fulham and his assist in the Manchester derby.
Garnacho scored the second goal that was crucial in a 3-1 victory against West Ham in the FA Cup fifth round back in March, and he may get another chance to face them at the London Stadium.
After a lengthy injury layoff, the €25 million star is unlikely to crack the starting lineup, but his outstanding speed and dribbling from the left wing might be a game-changer off the bench.
