Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil has issued a challenge to his team to maintain their momentum and strive for more points as they prepare to face Manchester United this Saturday.
Although Bournemouth found themselves in a relegation battle for a significant portion of the season, they successfully secured their Premier League status in their previous match, propelling them to 14th place in the standings with 39 points.
The team’s bid for survival involved securing crucial victories, notably against strong opponents such as Tottenham and Liverpool.
As they approach a demanding encounter against a Manchester United side vying for a spot in the Champions League, O’Neil sees this game as an ideal opportunity for his squad to rebound from their recent 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the manager said:
“We’ve lost our last two games so 39 points is a good tally, but it was better two weeks ago so we’ve been stuck on it for a couple of weeks.”
“We set ourselves a goal and we’ve achieved it, but does that mean that we’re just happy to just stop, park up and finish on 39 points? Definitely not.”
“We’re looking for a response from last weekend and Manchester United at home is a great fixture for the boys to go and show what they can do.”
“We’ve got full focus on Manchester United, we’ve managed to get some good work done on preparing for what is going to be a very tough game against a good side that are still pushing hard to make sure they qualify for the Champions League.”
The Red Devils are looking to win their remaining matches to fix their place in the top four of the league. However, Liverpool are also posing a threat to their plans as they are just one point behind United.

However, Ten Hag’s side have an extra game in hand and would need to capitalise on their chance to grab all three points. Bournemouth has nothing to lose, and they could make things difficult for United.
Considering United’s form in recent games, they would be favourites to win this match.
