Brentford manager Thomas Frank believes that the club’s valuation of David Raya is fair amid ongoing speculation about the goalkeeper’s future.
Raya has been linked with a potential move to Manchester United, and despite having a contract with Brentford until 2024, he has rejected offers for a new deal, indicating his intention to leave.
It is reported that Mark Flekken will join Brentford, which could open the door for Raya’s departure.
The Red Devils might be interested in signing a goalkeeper themselves, considering that David de Gea’s contract is expiring soon and Dean Henderson’s future at the club is uncertain.

While there have been rumours linking United to Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel, they now have an idea of what it would take to secure Raya’s services.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the Brentford manager said:
“We know the rumours about Raya not being here next season, but right now he is here. You all know the price – £40m – and absolutely it’s realistic.”
“I think it is too much, in general, the money that is paid in football. But in the current market and at his level, he has been at least a top-four keeper in the Premier League this season. If you look at those players, in such a crucial position, then I am not in doubt.”
The Red Devils have been keen to add a new goalkeeper to their ranks as they wish to provide more competition to De Gea.
The Spaniard’s contract talks have also accelerated in recent weeks and it could be done before the end of the season. However, United needs to address their lack of options in front of the nets.

In order to build a competitive squad next season, they need to bring a quality backup for De Gea and Raya seems to be a decent signing. United may not find it difficult to meet Brentford’s asking price.
But, it would be expected that the club will try to negotiate a lower fee as they have to sign players in other key positions as well.
