Kylian Mbappe to United links get stronger following Sheikh Jassim takeover

Following reports of the Qataris potentially winning the takeover race for Manchester United, fans of the club have started to fantasize about the prospect of signing Kylian Mbappe this summer.

This excitement coincides with news that the French forward has supposedly informed Paris Saint-Germain that he will not be extending his current contract.

Mbappe’s current contract with PSG, valued at over £500 million, is set to expire in 2024. However, there is a clause that allows for a potential extension until 2025, with the decision resting solely on the player.

Recent reports suggest that the 24-year-old forward has sent a formal letter to PSG, informing them that he will not be activating the option for the additional year under any circumstances.

This development comes just one day after PSG stated firmly that Mbappe would not be leaving the Parc des Princes during the upcoming transfer window.

To prevent losing the French star for free next year, the Ligue 1 champions will need to sell him during this summer transfer window.

As per the Express, Mbappe’s decision has ignited excitement among Man United supporters, who are now hoping that the reports of Sheikh Jassim emerging as the victor in the takeover race for the club are accurate.

Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos have been competing to acquire United.

Initially, Ineos appeared to be the frontrunners, aiming to purchase a 60 per cent stake in the club while allowing the Glazer family to retain a reduced role at Old Trafford.
