Manchester United’s hunt for a new midfielder is no secret now. The Red Devils are in talks with Chelsea regarding the potential signing of midfielder Mason Mount.
However, United’s initial three bids to sign him have been unsuccessful. The club has decided not to increase their most recent offer, which stands at £55 million including add-ons. Chelsea has been given some time to reconsider the proposal.
If Chelsea does not respond positively, Man United is willing to explore other options. According to ESPN, one such alternative target could be Mohammed Kudus.
United manager Erik ten Hag is familiar with Kudus from their time together at Ajax. However, it is advised that the club should avoid pursuing the Ajax star’s services this summer.

Ten Hag considers Mount a top priority. The 24-year-old is primarily an attacking midfielder but has also played centrally for Chelsea. The manager is seeking an improved work rate and creativity from the number eight role, and Mount would offer strong competition to Christian Eriksen.
On the other hand, Kudus does not meet United’s requirements. While he initially played as a central midfielder, he has been converted into a forward at Ajax.
In the previous season, Kudus scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 42 appearances, but most of his contributions came from the right wing or upfront.
It is evident that United does not need another right winger in their squad. Although Kudus can lead the line, the 22-year-old lacks the aerial presence that Ten Hag prefers.

Therefore, he should not be considered as an alternative to Mount. It is possible that ESPN fabricated the story, especially considering that Kudus himself has expressed his preference to play an attacking role.
