According to the Manchester Evening News, Nottingham Forest may abandon their pursuit of signing Dean Henderson, as Manchester United are currently unwilling to approve his sale.
Henderson spent the previous season on loan at Nottingham Forest, featuring in 20 matches across all competitions for the club.
Despite the English keeper’s impressive performances for Forest in the first half of last season, his loan spell was cut short due to a thigh injury sustained on January 14.
However, Forest manager Steve Cooper expressed his desire to have Henderson back for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, the club may be compelled to abandon their pursuit due to United’s reluctance to authorize the deal.

This reluctance stems from United’s uncertain goalkeeping situation and their unwillingness to let any goalkeepers leave the club, including Henderson, amidst the uncertainty surrounding the future of David de Gea.
Consequently, Forest may explore alternative targets if United continues to hold on to the England international. Although De Gea’s contract with Man United expired recently, the club has presented him with a new proposal that includes significantly reduced terms.
However, rumours are circulating that De Gea has received an offer from a club in Saudi Arabia, and it appears increasingly probable that he will depart from United due to the club’s change of stance on their initial agreement.
In preparation for De Gea’s potential departure, United are considering a move for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana as his replacement.
Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta confirmed United’s interest in Onana on Friday, solidifying the speculation surrounding the potential transfer.
