According to BBC Sport‘s Simon Stone, Manchester United have decided not to include goalkeeper Matej Kovar in their pre-season tour to the United States.
The reason for his exclusion is that the club plans to loan him out to another team. Kovar has participated in both of United’s pre-season friendlies this summer.
In the match against Leeds United, he was substituted at half-time, while he played the full 90 minutes against Lyon. However, despite his appearances in these friendlies, it seems United are looking to give him more playing opportunities elsewhere through a loan move.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper displayed impressive skills in both pre-season games, particularly in his distribution from the back. However, despite his performances, he has not accompanied the squad for the friendlies in the United States.

BBC Sport’s Simon Stone has disclosed that the club plans to loan Kovar out once again. This would be his fourth loan move from United. Kovar has been with the Red Devils since he was 17, but he has not yet made a competitive appearance for the club.
Although he showed promise during the first two pre-season matches, the decision has been made to send him out on loan to gain more valuable experience playing in a first-team environment.
It seems United are making significant changes to their goalkeeping department. With the arrival of Andre Onana from Inter Milan, the Cameroonian is expected to become the club’s first-choice goalkeeper for the upcoming season.
Additionally, the Red Devils are showing interest in signing Urawa Reds youngster, Zion Suzuki, who could be brought in as a backup goalkeeper. This move may be in anticipation of Dean Henderson’s potential departure from the club.
Tom Heaton is another senior goalkeeper currently in the squad, but there are strong indications that he might join Luton Town. However, his exit has been blocked by manager Erik ten Hag.

While United would have preferred Kovar to stay on as the backup goalkeeper, it appears that the club’s decision-makers believe he would benefit more from another loan spell to gain more experience.
As a result, they are looking to loan him out once again rather than keeping him in the backup role. These developments indicate that the club may see more than one goalkeeper arriving and departing during this transfer window.
