Manchester United planning to renew their interest in Adrien Rabiot this summer

According to Calciomercato, Manchester United are reportedly preparing to renew their interest in Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, whose contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024.

This comes after earlier speculation linking the Frenchman with the Red Devils during the previous summer, although he ultimately chose to extend his contract with Juventus for an additional year at his existing salary.

The 28-year-old is unlikely to follow the same path next summer. Calciomercato reports that the midfielder is seeking an increase in his salary to commit to a long-term contract.

Additionally, Rabiot’s decision to remain with the Bianconeri hinges on Juventus’ ability to stay competitive in the race for Champions League qualification in the upcoming months.

The Serie A club is aiming to resolve the player’s future before the New Year because the French star would have the freedom to initiate discussions with foreign clubs starting in January.

Both United and Newcastle are reportedly considering reigniting their interest in Rabiot. He has been a target for manager Erik ten Hag since his appointment last year.

Last summer, the Dutch manager personally engaged in discussions with the World Cup finalist in an effort to persuade him to make a move.

An agreement on a transfer fee was reached with Juventus, but the deal fell apart due to disagreements over personal terms.

However, Rabiot had a stellar season in Italy, tallying 11 goals and six assists for Juventus. He has continued to perform well this season, contributing with one goal and two assists.

It wouldn’t be surprising if United made an attempt to sign him on a free transfer. Ten Hag has a deep appreciation for Rabiot’s skills and might encourage the club’s management to rekindle their pursuit.

The move would likely be dependent on United’s ability to secure Champions League qualification. Currently, they are five points adrift of the Premier League’s top four and occupy the bottom spot in their UCL group.
