Gustaf Nilsson scored the lone goal of the game in the 62nd minute, after a goalless first half. Jon Dahl Tomasson made several changes to the starting XI that lost against Portugal. Lindelof kept his place in the team.

The United defender was on the wrong side of the criticism from fans due to his poor display against Roberto Martinez’s side last week. However, he made sure that he maintained his composure and came back stronger against Albania.

He bounced back by making three clearances and two tackles. He had failed to register even a single successful tackle against Portugal. But against Albania, he was promising at the back and also helped his team get a clean sheet.

Lindelof also completed 50 of his attempted 56 passes. Although he lost possession seven times he made sure he won the majority of his ground duels (five out of seven).

Man United fans will be pleased with the Swedish star’s defensive display and will be hopeful that he contributes similarly in his next Premier League match.

The onus is on Lindelof to pair with Raphael Varane and grab all three points. Every game from here matters a lot for the club’s ambitions towards building a better base for the upcoming summer transfer window.
