According to Sport 1 journalist Christopher Michel, Manchester United will need to sell midfielder Donny Van de Beek this summer as Eintracht Frankfurt are considering not signing the player permanently.
The Dutch star joined the Bundesliga outfit in January and they have inserted a £10 million release clause in his contract. However, Frankfurt have no reason to trigger that fee.
The 26-year-old has made only six appearances for his current club with zero goals or assists. He didn’t feature regularly under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford with just 19 minutes of game time this season.

The midfielder joined the Red Devils in 2020 and there was a lot of hype surrounding his move. Many believed that he would shine after putting up impressive performances for Ajax.

But things haven’t worked out in his favour due to inconsistency and injury issues. His contract will expire next summer; hence, the club must decide as soon as possible.
Van de Beek is stuck in a dilemma since his future at the Theatre of Dreams is uncertain and even Frankfurt are not ready to sign him permanently. They would need to lower their asking price or loan him out for one more season.
Terminating his contract will also be a beneficial move since that would reduce the pressure on the wage books. Several players are ahead of the Dutch star in the United squad.

The emergence of Kobbie Mainoo has further affected his chances of playing again for Ten Hag. Reports are suggesting that the English giants want to sign a new midfielder and they will need to sell any unwanted players to collect funds for a move.
At this moment, the former Ajax man is not in Frankfurt’s plans and their stance might remain unchanged at the end of the season.
Hence, we believe that Van de Beek should look for a new club and avoid getting stuck in the same loophole in the upcoming months.
It remains to be seen whether Man United will finally sell the player and allow him to flourish somewhere else.
