According to Claro Sports, Manchester United are interested in signing Bologna’s experienced centre-back, Jhon Lucumi.
The 25-year-old moved to Stadio Renato Dall’Ara from Genk in 2022. The Columbian has made 60 appearances in all competitions and has starred in 18 of the 24 league games for Thiago Motta’s side.
Lucumi was unable to feature in October due to a thigh injury. However, he has overcome the issue and has been a regular player for the Italian club.
United will face competition from Juventus and Atletico Madrid for his signature. Diego Simeone’s side has already placed a €13 million offer for the Bologna star. However, the Red Devils won’t find it difficult to offer more.
It has been an open race until now, and all interested clubs are open to negotiating with the Serie A side. Lucumi has completed an exceptional 93% of his passes and has won 74% of his ground deals.

He suits Erik ten Hag’s style of play due to his superior duel-winning percentage and better ball-playing ability. He has quite often supported the attacking moves.
Jhon Lucumi has completed 72% of his long balls and 71% of his dribbles for Bologna. The Rossoblus are placed at the fourth spot in Serie A.
They are in contention to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season, which is already a huge achievement for the club. It will be the first time in their history that they have qualified for this prestigious competition.
Lucumi has played a vital role, and he could depart the club with his head held high. It is a great chance for him to move to a top club and prove his worth.

Man United are looking for a player with a similar profile to the South American defender. Erik ten Hag’s side were forced to play Casemiro alongside Harry Maguire against Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Due to a shortage of options, they are planning to bring fresh legs in defence. It remains to be seen whether the English giants will submit a concrete offer for Lucumi this summer.
