According to the Spanish publication AS, Manchester United have joined Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Barcelona striker Vitor Roque ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.
The 19-year-old joined the Blaugrana from Athletico Paranaense last July. It was an important deal for Xavi’s side as it cost them £58 million to sign one of their hottest prospects in Brazil.
However, fast forward 10 months and the youngster is unhappy with how his time at Camp Nou has passed. He has made just 13 appearances (just 300 minutes of game time) and scored two goals.
Roque’s agent slammed Xavi for ignoring the young striker and not talking with him. He has also made it clear that the player will either stay permanently with the Spanish giants or move to another club.

The striker won’t accept a loan proposal to other clubs as he wants regular games as promised to him while he was negotiating a move to Barcelona.
Hence, as per reports several clubs are looking to exploit this situation and offer a deal to Roque. Premier League elites Man United, Chelsea and Spurs are all interested in the South American wonderkid and his spectacular goalscoring talents.
Some reports have even stated that Barcelona might be ready to sell Roque to United if they include Mason Greenwood in this deal.
The Red Devils under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s management are focusing on young upcoming superstars. They are planning to rebuild the squad from scratch and Roque fits their transfer strategy.
However, with Rasmus Hojlund being their preferred striker, it would not be a wise move to sign another youngster only to keep him on the bench.

Even if Roque is given game time as a rotational player, it would cause a similar situation as that at Barca. It might cause more controversies if the player and his agent fail to remain patient with their opportunities.
We believe that United should go for a striker who is starting to enter his prime years and can add value for years to come. The Brazilian gem needs time to develop but with his current situation, it will be no surprise to see other top clubs entering this race.
