Manchester United Eye Young Talent Beier And Zirkzee

According to journalist Dylan McBennett, Manchester United is reportedly in conversation to sign Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier to revamp its forward line this summer.

Interest in Beier corresponds with United’s goal to focus more on youth talent and less on pros like Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

Beier might be the new striker partner for Rasmus Hojlund who the Red Devils are looking to bring in.

After an impressive debut season at Old Trafford, Hojlund scored 16 goals across all competitions.

Also, the other United forward, Anthony Martial, was injured for most parts of the season and left the club at the end of his contract.

Manchester United, part-owned by INEOS and Jim Ratcliffe, will be looking to make the squad youthful again with some fresh blood.

The strategy of the club is to build around those like Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Kobbie Mainoo.

United will now turn their attention to the transfer market, having confirmed Erik ten Hag will stay on as manager for a minimum of another year, with a plan to get “two quick deals” over the line before more transfer funds are freed up by the sale of players.

McBennett reports that Manchester United have spoken with Joshua Zirkzee and Maximilian Beier’s representatives, but Beier – who made his Euro 2024 debut for Germany last week – has a release clause valued at £25 million in his current deal at Hoffenheim, according to German journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The 21-year-old shone in the Bundesliga this term as he scored 16 times in 33 outings for the Sinsheim side having spent the previous two campaigns out on loan in the second division with Hannover.

Beier’s fantastic displays and “incredible speed,” have attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs”, said Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen.

Beier made his debut in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim back in 2020 and, at 17, became their youngest-ever player. And now after 4 years, clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are wanting his signature.

Because of their interest in forwards, Manchester United have also reportedly made an inquiry for West Ham United midfielder Edson Alvarez.

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany, United have “gathered information” on the Mexico international as they look to add a new holding midfielder this summer.

Though West Ham are not willing to sell Alvarez, who has only been with them for a year after joining from Ajax, the Hammers may be open to offers in the £51-68m range.

This summer, Manchester United’s transfer strategy seems to revolve around the signing of youth talents that are just full of great potential, something which could build the foundation for a dynamic future at Old Trafford.
