Injury Update

Manchester United’s Luke Shaw Ruled Out For At Least Five Weeks

Luke Shaw will be out for at least five weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the defeat against Crystal Palace last Saturday. Ashley Young replaced him in the defeat and will likely start at left-back against Southampton on Saturday.

The former winger turned full-back was heavily criticized last season after some poor performances at the tail end of the season. Other options include Marcos Rojo who is a center-half but can play left-back and Matteo Darmian who can also play left-back,

Both Rojo and Darmian were expected to leave the club in the summer but are still at the club and might get an opportunity in the light of Luke Shaw’s injury.

United reportedly pulled the plug on Rojo’s move to Everton after the Glazers saw Everton as top-six rivals.

For Luke Shaw, this is another setback after being hindered by injuries throughout his United career, in 2015 Luke Shaw famously suffered a double leg break against PSV Eindhoven in the champions league after a horror tackle by PSV’s Hector Moreno.

Luke Shaw, 24 has suffered various injuries in the past and has lost his place in the England squad to Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.
