David De Gea Can Be Replaced Claims Edwin Van Der Sar

Former Manchester United goalkeeper has sent out a warning message to current Spanish shot stopper insisting that he is by no means irreplaceable.

The Red Devils are currently struggling in the Premier League this season as they have managed only one win in four games so far accumulating five points out of a possible 12 and they look in serious trouble. If United fail to attain Champions League football for the next season, then they might risk losing out on their star players including Paul Pogba or even David De Gea.

The Spaniard’s current contract with Manchester United ends at the end of this season and De Gea has been stalling on signing his new deal. The 28-year-old is linked with a move to the Serie A to join Italian champions Juventus and there seems no concrete news that De Gea will remain at United.

De Gea arrived at Old Trafford back in 2011 from Atletico Madrid and has gone on to win a Premier League title with Manchester United. Although he is still one of the best goalkeepers in the world, former United star Edwin Van Der Sar claims that De Gea can be replaced at Old Trafford.

The 48-year-old Dutchman has been linked to taking up a job at his former club after winning four Premier League titles with United and Van Der Sar said that De Gea can be replaced despite his quality, “Other goalkeepers can also fill the gap. There are a few Premier League goalkeepers playing at the club who can also take the step up. I was 34 when I went to United, so there are lots of opportunities there. The decision needs to come at a certain point. It’s taken a long time now, so it’s a case of ‘yes’ or ‘no’ but I’m not a director of United.”

De Gea’s form has dropped horrendously over the past year or so and the Spaniard has come under heavy jeopardy and scrutiny as well.
