Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho claimed that Alexis Sanchez was a sad man ever since he arrived at Old Trafford.
Mourinho was in charge of the Red Devils before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over the reins in December of last year but a run of poor results meant that the 56-year-old was given the sack. The Portuguese boss is regarded as one of the best managers in the world and has won titles everywhere that he has worked but Mourinho has still stated that finishing 2nd with Manchester United was one of his biggest achievements.
But Mourinho was responsible for signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal as Henrikh Mkhitaryan went the other way in a swap deal back in the January 2018 winter transfer window. There was a lot of hype around Sanchez but the Chilean failed to deliver as he scored only 3 goals in 32 appearances for United.
This summer, United decided to loan out Sanchez to Serie A club Inter Milan to ease off their burdens but Mourinho has explained that Sanchez was never happy at Old Trafford.
The ‘Special One’ spoke to the Telegraph and said, “I felt him [to be] not a happy man, think in every job you have when you are not happy it is not so easy to perform at every level. Maybe I am wrong – maybe it was me who was not capable to get into him and to get the best out of him. As a manager sometimes you have the capacity to get the best out of the players and other times you are not successful in that approach. But the reality is that I always felt [of Sanchez], ‘a sad man’. So probably in Italy, he will recover this. I hope he can. I always wish well to every player.”
