Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that star forward Marcus Rashford could be out of action for a while following hisgroin injury that he picked up against West Ham United.
England international Rashford pulled up just before the hour mark and United manager Solskjaer confirmed the striker would need to undergo scans on Monday to assess the seriousness of the injury. The Red Devils are already facing an injury crisis at the club and the Norwegian Solskjaer issued a pessimistic update on Rashford after the 2-0 loss to West Ham United at the London Stadium.
The 46-year old told reports about Rashford that he will be out for a while but Anthony Martial is inching closer to full fitness, “Scan in tomorrow. He felt his groin. I think he will be out for a while, [Mason Greenwood] couldn’t travel, but I reckon him and Anthony [Martial] aren’t too far away”
United are running short on attackers as they were without forwards Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood for the game in the English capital and the injury to Rashford leaves the Red Devils without a fit senior striker to lead the line.
17-year-old sensation Greenwood missed the game against West Ham due to illness, while French dup of Paul Pogba and Martial are still at least a week away from returning to full fitness.
United put in a quite a shambolic performance against the Hammers as the hosts earned three points through Aaron Cresswell’s stunning free-kick in the second half before Andriy Yarmolenko’s opening strike in the first period. The loss leaves United in eight position in the Premier League table after their second defeat of the new season.
