Manchester United have posted record revenues of £627.1million for the latest financial year despite their struggles under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United have had a poor start to the season, winning just two out of six premier league games and were beaten 2-0 at West Ham last Sunday.
The Red Devils were poor in the defeat against West Ham with many fans calling for the manager’s head, but Ed Woodward the Manchester CEO has come out and defended Solskjaer saying that they will back his philosophy in the transfer market.
United currently lie 10 points adrift of leaders Liverpool after only six matches.
‘We remain focused on our plan of rebuilding the team and continuing to strengthen our youth system, in line with the philosophy of the club and the manager,’ he said in a statement on Tuesday.
‘This is reflected in the recent addition of three exciting first-team players, key player contract extensions and the talent we have coming through our Academy.
‘Everyone at United is committed to delivering on our primary objective of winning trophies.‘
Ed Woodward was recently involved in an exchange between United defender Phil Jones, the duo was caught on video during the match which has since gone viral.
Lip readers have speculated that Jones said ‘Sacked in the morning’
Woodward seemingly turned his back when he heard Jones and said, “We’re on camera, stop.”
Jones, who was a regular under previous manager Jose Mourinho, has fallen down the pecking order under Solskjaer.
With Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof being preferred as the central defensive pairing for the Red Devils, Jones did not even make the matchday squad on Sunday.
