Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that Marcus Rashford can reach the level of Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rashford has continued his excellent form over the recent past with another goal in United’s stunning 2-1 derby win at the Etihad against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Englishman has already scored 13 goals this season and 10 of those have come in the Premier League.
Following a rich vein of form, Solskjaer has backed Rashford to emulate five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo, who also won three Premier League titles and the Champions League with the Premier League giants before leaving for La Liga side Real Madrid back in 2009.
Rashford has drawn praise because of his ability to score goals on a regular basis and he is keeping a similar streak as Ronaldo did during his days at Old Trafford. At such a tender age, he can actually develop into a world-beater if he continues to work on his game.
Solskjaer admitted that the young Manchester United forward has all the traits to become as big a player as Ronaldo. When asked by the media about whether Rashford can emulate Ronaldo the 46-year-old Norwegian explained, “Yeah, Both with skills, body shape, attitude, attributes – everything. The boy [Rashford] has every chance in the world to become a top, top player. Let’s hope he continues like this. I don’t want to talk about the number of goals. As long as he keeps being positive and being direct and thinking about getting in front of the goal and getting chances, he’ll score goals.”
