Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford labeled his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer comparing him to Cristiano Ronaldo as “nice”, but the Englishman also stated that he still had a way to go to reach those heights.
The 22-year-old striker was compared to former Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo by Solskjaer after starring in United’s 2-1 Premier League win over fierce local rivals Manchester City last week.
But despite being happy with such talk, Rashford has insisted that he needed to improve to match the five-time Portuguese Ballon d’Or winner and Juventus talisman.
Solskjaer has drawn comparisons for Rashford to Ronaldo due to the youngster’s goal per game ratio and the Manchester United forward spoke to BBC explaining the comments made by his Norwegian boss, “The Ronaldo thing was nice, definitely a compliment,”
However, Rashford understood that there is still a long way to go to reach the level of Cristiano Ronaldo and emulate his success at Old Trafford as he added, “But I understand how far I’ve got left to go to reach the heights he reached so I am very clear-minded and focused on myself.”
Rashford has come through the academy at United despite his tender age, he has already made 191 senior appearances for the Premier League giants netting 58 goals so far.
Having come through the youth system, the forward earned himself painting on the walls at Carrington admitting that he is aware of the responsibility he held. He further explained, “It is a bit overwhelming but it is the process of development. The players I looked up to are obviously older now. The younger players look up to us,”
