Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has said that he is “bang up for another derby” after the Red Devils were paired with fierce local rivals Manchester City in the League Cup semi-final.
The two Manchester clubs knocked out lower-league opposition on Wednesday to set up a two-legged meeting in the final four of the tournament, with the matches set to be played in the first month of 2020.
Rashford starred in a comfortable 3-0 win over League Two opposition Colchester United at Old Trafford, extending his fine run of goalscoring form by netting his 14th goal of the season in all competitions.
The English forward was also on target when the Red Devils recorded a shock 2-1 win against local neighbors and Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium earlier in December.
Rashford has had a strong record in the Manchester derby has also hit the winner in the fixture during his breakthrough campaign at United a few seasons back.
The 22-year-old is now looking forward to the next chapter of one of football’s historic rivalries and is up for the task against the holders of the competition. Following the 3-0 win over Colchester in the quarter finals of the tournament, Rashford took to social media to express his emotions after the Red Devils were drawn to face Manchester City in the semifinal of the EFL Cup.
On his Twitter account, Rashford uploaded a picture with a caption that indicated that he is ready for the derby and is eager to win the game as well, “Made to work for it but the job is done tonight getting into semis, bang-up for another derby too. Best games to play. Best games to win.”
