Manchester United Player Ratings Vs Newcastle United

The Red Devils secured an impressive 4-1 win over Newcastle United as they returned to winning ways on Boxing Day at Old Trafford.

David De Gea -6

The Spanish goalkeeper has now conceded in his last 14 league games in a row but there was nothing that he could do nothing about Matty Longstaff’s precise finish.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka- 7

The English right-back was Uncharacteristically exposed early on in the game but did what his manager demanded by going on the outside to cross for Marcus Rashford’s goal which was his first senior assist.

Victor Lindelof- 6

The Swedish center-back was not at his optimum once again in a porous backline. Fortunately, he did not have to defend against most of Newcastle’s attacks as the Red Devils finished off the game after going down.

Harry Maguire- 6

The record English signing did not do enough at either end in the first half of the game. Maguire was effortlessly bullied by Newcastle forward Joelinton for Longstaff’s goal but he improved his performance in the second half.

Luke Shaw – 5

The English left-back was slow in getting back for the Newcastle goal and failed to locate the unattended goalscorer Longstaff. Still struggling to get his rhythm for despite being a month into his return to first-team action.

Scott McTominay- 6

The Scottish midfielder went in for a full-blooded challenge with Matty Longstaff and hurt himself in the process. He kept on going and started the attack for the third goa before coming off the pitch at half time.

Fred- 6

The Brazilian was slow in the first 25 minutes that Newcastle was dominating the game but his performance level excelled with the team as his passing became more polished as the game carried on.

Mason Greenwood- 8

Solskjaer urged the 18-year-old forward to move infield from the flanks and it was from there that he scored his eighth goal of the season. Once again the youngster impressed for the Red Devils and justified his inclusion for United.

Andreas Pereira

The Brazilian midfielder laid off the ball for Martial’s goal and was proactive throughout the night.  The 24-year-old was an upgrade on Jesse Lingard after the Englishman’s woeful outing at Watford.

Marcus Rashford- 7

The English forward rose well to meet Wan-Bissaka’s cross to deprive Newcastle of any hope and belief that they could get back into the game. He came off in the second half as the game was pretty much done and dusted.

Anthony Martial- 8

The Frenchman was somewhat lucky with his first goal as it should have been saved by Dubravka and although Sean Longstaff claimed the assist for his second goal Martial took it superbly.
