Manchester United superstar Anthony Martial’s wife has opened up on the struggles that the Frenchman faced under his reign despite being considered as the future of the club.
The ‘Special One’ has been criticized for numerous things in his long and illustrious career, and the inability to help nurture young talents has most certainly been one of the biggest accusations that have been thrown at Mourinho.
The 56-year-old Portuguese manager was at the helm of Old Trafford for around 2 and a half years during which Martial featured 106 times, scoring a mere 27 goals and notching up 18 assists during that period.
However, Martial’s wife, Melanie De Cruz, has now opened up on the struggles that her husband faced while the former Chelsea boss was in charge of the Red Devils.
Melanie explained in a recent interview that her 24-year-old partner Martial was never really counted upon by Mourinho and therefore the Frenchman was having a bad time, “During our first two years together in Manchester, it was difficult because Jose Mourinho didn’t count on him. Anthony (Martial) goes silent in these situations. We were watching our man fall. I was having such a bad time that I stopped going to certain events to avoid being around the coach.”
Martial has been enjoying a great spell of form under current Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he has already netted 10 goals and three assists in 19 appearances so far this season. Fortunately, for the young forward, Solskjaer has been a positive influence and Martial’s career seems to be on the right track for now.
