Manchester United FC have been dealt a massive blow in their desire to sign highly-rated French teenager Eduardo Camavinga, with the player believed to have been preferring a move to Real Madrid.
The Red Devils had been monitoring the situation of Camavinga for quite a while now, thanks to his spectacular performances in Ligue 1 for his club Rennes. Moreover, Marcel Bout, Manchester United FC’s head of global scouting, had personally checked on the player to lure him into a move to Old Trafford.
However, recent reports now indicate that the 17-year old Camavinga seeks to seal a move to Real Madrid, where he desires to play under French legend Zinedine Zidane. The Spanish club is just one of the several top European clubs interested in signing the player, who is seen as perhaps the most prominent young prospect in the French league since Kylian Mbappe. However, in recent weeks, Real Madrid has made signing the young midfielder a top priority in the event of losing out on the transfer of Manchester United FC player Paul Pogba.
Camavinga has appeared in 35 matches for Rennes this season, scoring once and assisting twice during his time on the pitch. His impressive performances for his club have caught the eyes of many teams. However, Rennes president Nicolas Holveck has asserted that the teenage sensation will not be leaving the club this summer. Holveck added that the Ligue 1 club does not have any plans of selling the player, who is one of the highest-rated prospects in world football right now.
Manchester United FC was believed to have started negotiations with Rennes, with the Premier League club allowing Camavinga to stay at his current club on loan for another season. However, with the player prioritizing a move to Madrid over Old Trafford, it seems that the Red Devils’ manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to miss out on what could have a massive signing for Manchester United FC’s future.
