Marcos Rojo set to return to Manchester United FC shortly

Argentian defender Marcos Rojo will be returning to Manchester United FC after his loan deal with Estudiantes comes to an end. The player was allowed to leave for his homeland and play for Estudiantes earlier this year due to limited first-team opportunities for him under Ole Gunner Solskjaer.

Estudiantes’s manager has confirmed that an extension for Rojo’s loan is not on the cards right now and the defender will be allowed to return to Old Trafford shortly.

Rojo joined Estudiantes, where his career had begun, at the end of January and hoped to recapture his form and compete for the centre-back position upon returning to Manchester United FC. However, things have not gone as planned for the player with him making only one appearance for Estudiantes since signing for them.

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic halted the Argentian football league as well, which did not allow Rojo to appear further for his team with injuries stalling his debut earlier upon moving to Estudiantes.

Estudiantes’s manager Leandro Desabato had recently voiced his desire of keeping Rojo at the club for a longer period than agreed upon with the Red Devils. However, with Rojo’s contract with Manchester United FC set to expire in the coming 12 months, Desabato believes that it won’t be understandable with the Premier League side to continue loaning the player.

Rojo had himself stated that he wanted to stay in his homeland a while longer with his aspiration of making a splash for his former club Estudiantes proving to be futile. In April, the defender had stated that if the situation allowed, he would speak to the Red Devils management and try negotiating an extension of another six months for his stay in Argentina.

Rojo’s current contract at Manchester United FC is set to expire in the summer of 2021, and the player is widely tipped to be allowed to leave by the Premier League side.
